Over the course of the last 20 years, craft brewing has become immensely popular, especially in the west. Cities like Denver, San Diego, Portland, and Seattle remain at the forefront of brewing experimentation, using unique hopping schedules and experimenting with locally sourced ingredients. Arizona, however, has been quick to follow suit and has established a number of regional breweries, like San Tan and Four Peaks in Phoenix, that produce world-class beers of their own. In fact, just a few short years ago, Arizona Wilderness Brewing in Glendale, Arizona was recognized as the #1 new microbrewery in the country.
Not to be outdone by the cities to the south, Northern Arizona has also built up an impressive resume of microbreweries and wineries. One of several breweries we’ll discuss today, and the largest in Prescott, Arizona is Prescott Brewing Company.
Prescott Brewing Company
Since Prescott Brewing Company first opened in 1994, the brewpub has been a fixture of the Prescott restaurant scene. A must-have for both visitors and residents alike, Prescott Brewing Company offers a weekly revolving tap list as well as a semi-annually updated menu of pub fare. Located conveniently on the Courthouse Square, Prescott Brewing Company offers daily specials and a diverse menu that caters to any taste. Whether you’re looking for unbeatable chicken wings, stick-to-your ribs “pub-stantial fare,” or hearty burgers and sandwiches, you’re sure to find something to love.
Prescott Brewing Company embraces a “made-from-scratch philosophy” and fine-tunes every recipe before it hits their menu. That means that everything from the kid’s menu to the wraps and pizzas are carefully tested in their kitchens before they’re ever tasted by a patron. The company takes the same careful approach with each beer they brew. That’s why it wasn’t until 2011 that they decided they had outgrown their 7-barrell brewhouse and built a second, larger microbrewery, which allowed them to begin distribution throughout the region.

Granite Mountain Brewing
What started off as a dream of four friends and a Kickstarter campaign quickly turned into one of Prescott’s most innovative nanobreweries. Granite Mountain Brewing opened in downtown Prescott in 2012 thanks to an outpouring of support from the community. The brewery offers a rotating tap list of house brews and also features guest taps from other micro and nano breweries in Arizona. In addition to their beer offerings, Granite Mountain Brewing offers wine, hard ciders, and mead from Page Springs Cellars, Superstition Meadery, and Arizona Stronghold.
In addition to offering live music periodically throughout the week, Granite Mountain Brewing offers Happy Hour every weekday from 4-6pm (except Monday and Tuesday when they’re closed for brewing) and discounted growler fills on Sundays.

Lonesome Valley Brewing
Lonesome Valley Brewing, Prescott Valley’s first and only brewpub, offers scratch-made pub fare like rolled to order craft pizzas, hand formed burgers, and baked-daily pretzels. The head chef’s philosophy, that customers should know what goes into their food, ensures that they use only the freshest ingredients available. The same focus on quality echoes in each of the nine beers on tap. Whether it’s one of their four core beers or one of the five rotating handles, you’re sure to find a pint to enjoy.
