Looking Back at 2018 with Dorn Homes

Posted by Dornhomes on Jan 3, 2019 12:39:21 PM

As we begin 2019 it’s important to take a moment to look back and reflect on 2018. Whether it’s seeking ways to better serve others or better take care of one another, or it’s looking back in gratitude for the wonderful friends and family in our lives, what we see in 2018 can be a source of inspiration for 2019. Here at Dorn Homes our retrospective is a little of both: gratitude for members of the Dorn Family and the people that choose us to build their dream homes and aspirations for the years to come.

Awards and Accolades

This year saw Dorn Homes receive a number of local and national awards, but the most significant was the Reader’s Choice for Best Builder from the Daily Courier. This award doesn’t come from an industrUnknown-1y committee. It comes from the men and women in the community in which we build and we can’t thank you enough for choosing to recognize Dorn Homes. Dorn Homes was also honored with silver design awards from both Professional Builder Magazine and The NAHB Nationals for the Sunflower and Enchantment respectively.

Openings and Closings

A_RMP0713This has been a tremendous year of growth here at Dorn Homes. 2018 saw the launch of 4 new communities throughout the Northern Arizona: Saddlewood, Quail Canyon, Talking Rock and Shadow Ridge. We were excitedto open a brand new Design Center in Prescott that doubles the size of our previous location. dorn_pinnacle_13f copyThis was also the year that we began construction on 3 models in Wickenburg Ranch and opened our new models in Quailwood. Our Walden Farms community also celebrated the opening of the Walden Park. One of our most successful communities ever in Prescott, Pinnacle Views, has only 3 amazing homesites left.

Growing and Evolving
dornCaresST color@300ppi-2Beyond just community growth, 2018 was a banner year for the evolution of Dorn Homes. We were pleased to launch DornCares, the hub of the charitable efforts of the community, the company, and our employees. With the creation of DornCares came the announcement of its first goal: ending homelessness in the Quad Cities. To achieve this goal, we’re working closely with local charities to make a significant impact on the lives of the community members that face housing insecurity.

As part of our ongoing commitment to healthy and shutterstock_576546655ecologically conscious building efforts, we also launched our Eco Evolve program. Eco Evolve gives our homeowners the choice to use solar panels and whole home batteries to reduce their utility bills and reliance on the grid in an environmentally friendly way. With the launch of Eco Evolve, all new Dorn Homes will come solar ready.

By the Numbers

This past year we:

  • Poured over 30,000 yards of concrete.
  • Installed over 97 miles of Pex water piping.
  • Spread almost 29,000 gallons of paint.
  • Contributed $86,335 to charity.
  • Welcomed 19 new Dorn Homes Team Members.
  • Built a total of 273 brand new homes.

We are truly grateful for the year that was and are excited to face the years ahead. The awards, and growth would not have been possible without the trust of homeowners like you and the dedication and commitment of each of our Dorn Homes Team Members. In 2019 we resolve to continue exploring innovative and exciting new building science, groundbreaking design and architecture, and finding Team Members with the passion for service that our homeowners deserve.
