St. Patrick’s Day – Top of the morning to ye! On March 17^th you risk the chance of being pinched if you don’t wear green. While we don’t condone this type of behavior, it most certainly has momentum with friends and family. Unconfirmed folklore states that leprechauns are behind this pinching tradition and that they like to pinch people (but can’t see those folks that do wear green). Those unsuspecting people that forego the green attire or accessory leave themselves open to this leprechaun assault. Again, this is completely unverified, and we have absolutely nothing factual to substantiate this story.  

February is often a month that we stay close to home, saving the travel for warmer temperatures.

It is hard to believe that November has arrived, and the Winter Holiday celebrations are right at our doorstep. Throughout the year, our communities have welcomed new residents, both from within the state and others who have migrated here and are now part of our amazing hometown communities. Where does the time go? At Dorn Homes (just like everywhere else) we’re saying goodbye to 2019 and hello to a whole new decade. It’s that time of year again. As fall gives way to winter, most of Arizona embraces the cooler temperatures and respite from our sweltering summers. In Prescott though, where summers are more temperate, winter brings more than just relief. Here winter brings hopes for snow and snow days, and, more importantly, anticipation for the holiday season. When pressed for information about the rich history of Prescott, Arizona, most residents could probably tell you that the town served as the Capital of the Arizona Territory. They’d also tell you that Prescott hosts the World’s Oldest Rodeo, which has been an annual event every 4th of July weekend since 1888. What they may not know, however, is that the name “Prescott” wasn’t even one of the original proposals when naming the city. Let’s take a few minutes to explore some of the storied history of Prescott.

Independence Day, and the weekend that follows it, is a great time to celebrate the arrival of summer in Northern Arizona. The cooler weather typically brings visitors from all over the state, especially from our sweltering neighbors down south. It’s an opportunity to reconnect with friends and family with a cold drink and an afternoon grilling burgers and dogs (or firing up the smoker for ribs and chicken if you’re so inclined). But the celebration doesn’t have to end in your own backyard; Northern Arizona offers a bevy of activities to enjoy and entertainment options for visitors.
