Understanding the concept and advantages of a spec home is beneficial and can be advantageous in this extremely competitive home buying market. You might hear it called a "feature home" or “quick move-in” home, whatever the verbiage the concept is much the same.
A spec home is designed and put on the market as a "move-in-ready" or "coming soon" home. There is no exact buyer in mind, but instead has been designed using an experienced design team to hand select the options based on the current floor plans of each community. The goal is to always work towards a balance of features and upgrade selections based on what is popular among buyers.

Prescott Frontier Days mean fireworks, barbecues, and the world’s oldest Rodeo. All of these are part of Prescott’s historic celebratory 4th of July traditions. The rodeo is rooted in history here, with the first one being held in 1888. Prepare to be entertained and thrilled with wild horse racing, steer wrestling, bareback riding, and barrel racing, just to name a few. The Rodeo gates open on June 28th at 7:30pm and runs through July 4th, with July 4th honoring our military as “The Tribute to Armed Forces” night!

In an unpredictable world, Dorn Homes is getting a head start to expedite your move into a brand-new home. In all of our communities throughout Arizona you’ll find more quick move-in homes available soon.
A quick move-in home, also referred to as a spec home, is a home that our team designs and begins building before it has been sold. We select our most popular floor plans and features, have a team of professional interior designers choose exceptional interior finishes, and then begin construction. These professionally curated homes are ready to move into much faster than a typical “to be built” home – hence the name “quick move-in.”

Never iron a four-leaf clover because you don’t want to press your luck!
St. Patrick’s Day – Top of the morning to ye! On March 17th you risk the chance of being pinched if you don’t wear green. While we don’t condone this type of behavior, it most certainly has momentum with friends and family. Unconfirmed folklore states that leprechauns are behind this pinching tradition and that they like to pinch people (but can’t see those folks that do wear green). Those unsuspecting people that forego the green attire or accessory leave themselves open to this leprechaun assault. Again, this is completely unverified, and we have absolutely nothing factual to substantiate this story.

Arizona has long been known as a popular destination for homeowners further north to build homes to spend the winters in. Instead of worrying about sub-zero temperatures and getting snowed in, they head south to enjoy mild winters and the occasional white Christmas. Sometimes referred to as “snowbirds,” these visitors help boost the state’s economy and sometimes become permanent or semi-permanent residents. With summer coming to a close, it’s time to welcome back those friends and neighbors that spend summers elsewhere. For readers that may be considering buying or building a winter home, read on to learn a little more about some of the recent changes to Dorn Homes’ communities that could help you make that decision.

As Dorn Homes’ communities in Northern Arizona continue to grow, we regularly open new lots or complete construction on planned amenities. This presents a great opportunity for homebuyers to become part of a community they were worried they missed and to see communities they’re interested in take shape. To make sure that interested homebuyers hear about the new openings in their favorite communities, we’ll be posting periodically in a new recurring article, Neighborhood Update. Unlike many of our articles that discuss design, entertainment, and lifestyle, this will be a place for us to share news about community improvements and to celebrate community milestones.
