Frontier Days In Prescott Arizona

Posted by Dornhomes on Jun 28, 2022 5:00:00 PM

Prescott Frontier Days mean fireworks, barbecues, and the world’s oldest Rodeo. All of these are part of Prescott’s historic celebratory 4th of July traditions. The rodeo is rooted in history here, with the first one being held in 1888. Prepare to be entertained and thrilled with wild horse racing, steer wrestling, bareback riding, and barrel racing, just to name a few. The Rodeo gates open on June 28th at 7:30pm and runs through July 4th, with July 4th honoring our military as “The Tribute to Armed Forces” night!

The Rodeo parade theme this year, is celebrating 50 years of Junior Bonner, which was a 1972 classic western film featuring Steve McQueen filmed in the Prescott area at the rodeo fairgrounds. Grand Marshall for this parade is Steve McQueen’s grandson, Chase McQueen. Come on down and help celebrate the rich western history of Prescott.

No Fourth of July celebration would be complete without the fireworks.  Here is a list of where to go in Prescott and Prescott Valley to watch the sky light up or to find additional events!   July 4th Fireworks in Yavapai County

Frontier Day’s celebrations will fill the downtown area, including the annual rodeo dance, an arts and craft show, and the infamous Whiskey Row Boot Race. As you think about this day, take time to thank the exceptional men and women throughout history who have given us opportunities and freedoms because of their sacrifices.

“We on this continent should never forget the men that first crossed the Atlantic, not to find soil for their ploughs but to secure liberty for their souls”- Robert J McCracken.
