February is upon us, and that means spring is just around the corner and love is in the air. We’ve often written about Dorn Homes’ commitment to strengthening communities by building real relationships with our homebuyers, our employees, our trade partners, and the community around us. This year for Valentine’s Day we’d like to share some of the stories that inspire us to continue spreading that message of relationship building. So continue reading for a few anecdotes from employees about their favorite moments and why they love working at Dorn Homes, and some thoughtful comments from homebuyers that got butterflies when they saw their brand new homes.
Where does the time go? At Dorn Homes (just like everywhere else) we’re saying goodbye to 2019 and hello to a whole new decade. The new year is a time for planning ahead, making resolutions, and self-improvement. But it’s also a time for retrospection. A time to appreciate the year we’ve had and remember the moments that made it so special. With the holiday hustle and bustle behind us, we’d like to take a moment and look back at all the exciting changes we’ve experienced, the new communities we’ve built, friends we’ve made, and a few fun facts and figures that we hope will make you smile.
It’s that time of year again. As fall gives way to winter, most of Arizona embraces the cooler temperatures and respite from our sweltering summers. In Prescott though, where summers are more temperate, winter brings more than just relief. Here winter brings hopes for snow and snow days, and, more importantly, anticipation for the holiday season. For anyone with plans of traveling to experience winter at its finest, there's no better place to celebrate Christmas than Prescott, Arizona's Christmas City.

The holiday season is typically lauded as an opportunity to celebrate friends and family and share a moment with the most important people in our lives. Thanksgiving, especially, is a time for communal celebration. Sometimes though, the hustle and bustle of life can interrupt that. Perhaps you’ve recently moved to a new community here in Prescott and those closest to you are also the furthest away. Or maybe you’d love to host a Thanksgiving dinner but don’t have the time or energy to entertain guests and spend hours in the kitchen basting turkey, mashing potatoes, and baking fresh pumpkin pies. Fortunately, if you’d like to enjoy classic holiday fare without the prep work or clean up, you have a number of options here in Prescott. Whether you’re looking for plated holiday dinners, a buffet with a twist on the classics, or a fully prepared Thanksgiving dinner to serve in your new kitchen, we can help you find it.
Whether you believe in haunted places and are looking for a ghostly encounter or you just enjoy the occasional scare, Prescott is a great place to embrace the spooky fall season. With the evenings getting brisk and the days still warm, Fall is the perfect time of year to explore the area. There are several locations in downtown Prescott that are home to the ghosts of jilted lovers, unlucky gamblers, and even a feline companion. If ghost hunting isn’t your thing, there are also a variety of Halloween-themed activities to celebrate the season.
If you’re considering building a brand new home in Wickenburg Ranch you’ve probably read about the wonderful amenities featured in the community in our previous post. From the Big Wick and Li’l Wick golf courses to the socializing and stargazing, we’ve shared a number of our favorite community amenities. What we haven’t done, however, is share everything you need to know about the town of Wickenburg itself. So if Wickenburg is on your list of living destinations, continue reading to learn more about this authentic taste of the Wild West.

Arizona has long been known as a popular destination for homeowners further north to build homes to spend the winters in. Instead of worrying about sub-zero temperatures and getting snowed in, they head south to enjoy mild winters and the occasional white Christmas. Sometimes referred to as “snowbirds,” these visitors help boost the state’s economy and sometimes become permanent or semi-permanent residents. With summer coming to a close, it’s time to welcome back those friends and neighbors that spend summers elsewhere. For readers that may be considering buying or building a winter home, read on to learn a little more about some of the recent changes to Dorn Homes’ communities that could help you make that decision.

With the end of summer rapidly approaching it’s important to take advantage of the bright sunshine and warm summer evenings while they’re still here. Some classic activities never go out of style, like picnicking in area parks, fishing the local lakes, or just taking the dog for a walk on the miles of hiking trails that Prescott offers. If you prefer to stay in the shade, it’s tough to beat an evening spent on the Historic Courthouse Square, exploring shops, and enjoying the unbeatable local restaurants. These are tried and true favorites of many Prescott residents and are likely something you’ve enjoyed before. So as part of our ongoing efforts to share other community favorites with our homeowners, we’d like to offer some summer events that will help you end the season in a new and unique way.

When pressed for information about the rich history of Prescott, Arizona, most residents could probably tell you that the town served as the Capital of the Arizona Territory. They’d also tell you that Prescott hosts the World’s Oldest Rodeo, which has been an annual event every 4th of July weekend since 1888. What they may not know, however, is that the name “Prescott” wasn’t even one of the original proposals when naming the city. Let’s take a few minutes to explore some of the storied history of Prescott.
Celebrating America’s Independence with the World’s Oldest Rodeo
Independence Day, and the weekend that follows it, is a great time to celebrate the arrival of summer in Northern Arizona. The cooler weather typically brings visitors from all over the state, especially from our sweltering neighbors down south. It’s an opportunity to reconnect with friends and family with a cold drink and an afternoon grilling burgers and dogs (or firing up the smoker for ribs and chicken if you’re so inclined). But the celebration doesn’t have to end in your own backyard; Northern Arizona offers a bevy of activities to enjoy and entertainment options for visitors. So whether you’re a long-time resident looking for something new, or are hoping to find a way to entertain out-of-towners, join us in exploring some of the great events happening up north.

At Dorn Homes we like to think of ourselves as a family, a big and growing family, but family nonetheless. Families support one another, trust one another, and are there in times of need. That’s something to be celebrated. And what better way to celebrate family than by spending time with the people we love doing the things we love? So we’ve put together an itinerary of things to do on this upcoming Mother’s Day to show the moms out there just how much you care.

As Dorn Homes’ communities in Northern Arizona continue to grow, we regularly open new lots or complete construction on planned amenities. This presents a great opportunity for homebuyers to become part of a community they were worried they missed and to see communities they’re interested in take shape. To make sure that interested homebuyers hear about the new openings in their favorite communities, we’ll be posting periodically in a new recurring article, Neighborhood Update. Unlike many of our articles that discuss design, entertainment, and lifestyle, this will be a place for us to share news about community improvements and to celebrate community milestones.
